I am the founder of ShareVision (http://www.sharevision.ca/default.aspx), a provider of software for social services agencies. One of our clients told me about your blog, and after reading it, I think we may be able to help, or at least provide some information for you to assess.
Although many of our clients were using HOMES when they switched to ShareVision, we've never thought of HOMES as a competitor, as we shared common goals. I'd met several times with Kelly Ernst, and I liked him and what CORI was about. We shared future technology strategies, and even modified our data structure to more fully support the CORI outcome methodologies, allowing clients to collect data in one system for analysis in another. I'd not known that Kelly left CORI until hearing the news of their shutting down, and I really wish we'd had a chance to consult with them about their options. I'm virtually certain we could have offered some alternatives. Perhaps there is still room for discussion.
I didn't feel right just posting something to your blog, as there is clearly a commercial element involved too. But like CORI, ShareVision has its start in the desire to help, not in marketing a product. Despite no grants or outside funding, we've managed to take a custom built system for a tiny coastal BC agency and successfully adapted it for more than 50 organizations across North America over the past 7 years. A key point with us is promoting use of free or widely-available technologies, but fitting them closely to actual requirements.
I'd be glad to discuss specific options for those using HOMES, and to provide any information I can about ShareVision, including giving you access to a working online version. Please let me know if this might be helpful.
Cheers,
Sven Brindley
